Executive

Patrick qualified as a chartered accountant with Deloitte Haskins & Sells before joining Cazenove & Co in the corporate finance department. He joined Close Brothers Group in 1989, where he was a director of the private equity and corporate finance divisions. He established Close Ventures in 1996 and led the management buyout in 2009 to create the Albion of today.

Patrick has an MA in Modern Languages from Oxford University.

Executive

Will joined Albion in 2001 and is the current Managing Partner and Chair of the investment committee. He is a director of the Association of Investment Companies (AIC) board, the British Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (BVCA)’s venture capital committee and the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Entrepreneurship’s advisory board. Will was previously the Chair of the Venture Capital Trust Association (VCTA).

Will qualified with CLB in 1996, and then joined the firm’s corporate finance team. He holds a BA Hons in History from Southampton University.

Executive

Andrew joined Albion in 2005 and focuses on medical technologies, digital health and technology-enabled services to the life-science sector. He initially practised as a surgeon for six years before joining the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in 2001 specialising in healthcare strategy.

He has an MA plus Bachelors of Medicine and Surgery from Cambridge University and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (England).

Executive

Vikash joined Albion in 2010 and oversees the finance and administration of all funds. He is a member of Albion’s Executive, Valuation and Risk Management Committees. Vikash qualified as a chartered accountant with RSM and latterly worked in its corporate finance team before joining Albion.

He has a BA (Hons) in Accountancy & Finance from Nottingham Business School.

Adam joined Albion in 2013 and focuses on opportunities in B2B software and ClimateTech. He has invested, advised, and sat on the board of companies across a broad range of sectors including involvement in raising and deploying over £150m of funds into the Renewable Energy sector. Prior to joining Albion, Adam started his career in M&A investment banking at Rothschild.

Adam holds a BA (Hons) degree in Industrial Economics and a masters in Corporate Strategy and Governance from the University of Nottingham.

Cat joined Albion in 2018 and focusses on fintech, security and productivity. She is particularly interested in software that is transforming big, legacy industries as well as tech solving core issues for society. Prior to joining Albion, Cat worked in New York and London as an Investment Banker with Goldman Sachs.

Cat holds a degree in Economics from Harvard University, focussed on global economic development and behavioural economics.

Christoph joined Albion in 2011 and focuses on digital health and life sciences. Christoph started his career as a radiologist, and went on to strategy consulting at Bain & Co. He entered the venture capital industry in 2006 focusing on healthcare with 3i Group followed by corporate M&A with General Electric’s digital health division.

Christoph holds a doctorate in medicine from Ludwig-Maximilians University, Munich and an MBA from INSEAD.

David joined Albion in 2016 and focuses on a wide range of deeptech opportunities, including Quantum Computing, Machine Learning and Data Analytics, Cleantech, Medtech, Edtech and Hardware. He started his career at Detica before moving to China to work in an FMCG start-up. He then moved to the investment side, joining Spark Impact in 2012.

David holds a Masters’ degree in Natural Science (Mathematics and Chemistry).

David joined Albion in 2005 and heads up renewables at Albion. He initially worked at the BBC and ICL, specialising in commerce, before joining 3i as an investment manager in 1999. David is on the board of many of the Biogas, Hydro and Wind investments.

David holds degree in Economics from the University of Warwick.

Ed joined Albion in 2004, leads on technology investing and heads up the Tech team. Prior to Albion, Ed worked at ING Barings advising UK public companies on M&A, IPOs and fundraisings during the dotcom era.

Ed graduated from UCL with a degree in philosophy.

Emil joined Albion in 2000 and focuses on investments in fintech, data/AI and wider B2B software sectors. Prior to Albion, Emil started his career in corporate finance at KPMG in London.

Emil holds a BA (Hons) degree in European Business Administration and is a member of the ICAEW (FCA and BFP).

Jane joined Albion in 2020 and heads up the platform team. She has extensive talent and team building experience, having previously held positions as Talent Advisor at EQT Ventures and Balderton Capital.  Jane also co-founded The Talent Stack in 2018, a talent management consultancy for early-stage companies.

Jane holds a BA Double Hons degree in French and German from Durham University.

Jay joined Albion in 2019 and focuses on FinTech investment opportunities. Jay was previously at Bain & Co advising private equity and sovereign wealth funds on acquisitions of European technology, financial and business services companies, having been working in Financial Services since 2005.

Jay holds a first class MMath Mathematics Degree from the University of Exeter, and an MBA from London Business School/ The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Marco joined Albion in 2007 and specialises in energy related investments. He has deep knowledge and understanding of energy generation, distribution, balancing, storage as well as servicing the sector and has led over 20 investments to date. Prior to joining Albion, he qualified as a Chartered Surveyor with Bouygues (UK). He is also an Honorary Lecturer at UCL.

Marco holds a first-class degree in Economics from Cambridge University and a PhD in Construction Economics from UCL.

Nadine joined Albion in 2018 and focuses on all aspects of technology investing. Prior to joining, she was an analyst at Berytech Fund, one of the first VC funds in the Middle East.

Nadine has a B.Eng in electrical and computer engineering from The American University of Beirut and a Master’s Degree in Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship from Brown University.

Paul joined Albion in 2019 and focuses on opportunities in enterprise software spanning API, fintech, data/AI and B2B marketplaces. He was previously Finance Director at Citymapper and worked in business operations at Viagogo. Before this, Paul worked in M&A at Citigroup.

Paul holds a Dual Degree of Sciences from the London School of Economics and Po Paris.

Robert joined Albion in 2005 and focuses companies operating in the B2B software and DeepTech space. He has led over 20 investments with recent exits including Atego (PTC), Grapeshot (Oracle), PSE (Siemans). Robert started his career in corporate finance at KPMG, then built up further finance experience at Credit Suisse First Boston and ING Barings.

Robert holds a BA (Hons) degree in History and is qualified as a chartered accountant.

Simon joined Albion in 2016 and specialises in life-science investments, focusing on therapeutics, delivery systems, diagnostics and medical devices. Before Albion, Simon completed his PhD (and postdoc) at the University of Cambridge, prior to which he was at Goldman Sachs JBWere in Melbourne, predominantly in Healthcare/Biotech and portfolio strategy research. He also worked in several roles across the UK and Australian biotech start-up sectors.

Simon holds a BSc in Finance/Neuroscience from the University of Melbourne and a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Cambridge.

Kibriya joined the Albion investment team in 2022 having helped to lead the commercial growth strategy at Funding Circle and made up part of a team launching and scaling new digital products for Formula 1. Before this, he worked at OC&C Strategy Consultants where he delivered on strategy and due diligence projects.

Kibriya graduated from Oxford University with an MMath degree.

Leigh joined Albion in 2021 and focuses on transformative technologies and therapeutics opportunities in life sciences. Having started as a bench scientist at the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT, she went on to do a PhD in Biomedical Sciences, which led her into industry after a technology she developed was the basis for a spin-out company.

Leigh holds a BSc in Biochemistry from Simmons University and a PhD from Imperial College London.

Marco joined Albion in 2007 and specialises in energy related investments. Molly joined Albion in 2022, focusing on opportunities in health tech and digital pharma. Before that she was at McKinsey & Co covering healthcare systems, services and technologies. Prior to McKinsey, Molly was Chief Commercial Officer of Induction Healthcare Group, which completed an IPO on AIM in 2019, and a founding team member of Pando, a messaging and workflow tool for doctors.

Molly holds a degree in Medicine & Surgery, and a BA in Molecular Medicine, from Oxford University.

Sebastian joined Albion in 2022 focusing on deeptech opportunities. Prior to joining, Sebastian worked as the technology architect and tech team lead for a think tank advising the Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister of Barbados. Sebastian holds an MSc in Computer Science from the University of Edinburgh. During his studies, he co-founded and led two start-ups to signing partnership agreements with The University of The West Indies, winning the companies’ first contracts and raising their first investments.

Simon joined Albion in 2016 and specialises in life-science investments, focusing on therapeutics, delivery systems, diagnostics and medical devices. Tanel joined the team in 2018 and focuses on life science opportunities and supporting entrepreneurs launching spin-outs that have the potential to transform lives.

Tanel completed his PhD and postdoctoral research at UCL, which focused on developing synthetic biological tools for microbiome engineering. His scientific pedigree, and close understanding of the environment young entrepreneurs are negotiating, gives Tanel an edge in his work as an investor in the space.

He also holds an MSc in Nanotechnology and Regenerative Medicine from UCL, and a BSc in Human Biology from King’s College London.

Valerie joined the AlbionVC B2B Software team in 2022. She started her VC career at Cherry Ventures, after having been a founder and operator for 8 years in the foodtech space. Valerie exited her dark kitchen business in 2019, and stayed on for a while to streamline the operations of the joint venture – which is where she saw the potential of tech in workflow automation and supply chain management. Being slightly obsessed with operations & processes, Val continued her operator journey as a freelance consultant & advisor to a variety of businesses.

James joined Albion Capital in 2022 and is responsible for managing a portfolio of renewable energy infrastructure assets, comprising of hydro, solar and wind technologies. James has ten years of experience in the renewable sector, working with Hazel Capital and Gresham House. Prior to this, James spent the earlier part of his career with J.P. Morgan investment bank, focusing on fixed income, equity, and derivatives.

Gita joined Albion in 2021 and is part of the platform team that supports the growth of our portfolio companies. Prior to joining Albion, she worked in start-ups, and national and multinational corporations across healthtech, fintech and e-commerce.

Gita holds a BSc in Economics and Finance from the University of Amsterdam and a Master’s in Management of Information Systems and Digital Innovation from the LSE.

Lauren joined Albion in 2022 and is part of our platform team, focusing on founder support, curation of our founder-focussed programmes, as well as building the Albion networks and ecosystem connections. Prior to joining Albion, she was Platform Lead for Huckletree and led on Fintech & Ecosystem Partnerships at Thomson Reuters.

Lauren graduated from the University of Leeds in English and Theatre.

Agnese joined Albion in 2021 and supports marketing and communications for the business. Before this, she was at another venture capital firm in marketing and investor relations. She also previously worked for the Milan Fashion Week and the Milan Design Week in public and media relations.

Agnese has a master’s degree in Communication and International Relations and is fluent in English, Italian, French, Spanish and German.

Bryony joined Albion in 2022 and helps develop relationships with Financial Intermediaries. Prior to joining she was at the Foresight Group focusing on raising the profile of Foresight’s tax efficient products and open ended funds in the South East. Before that, Bryony spent time in client facing roles across various sectors.

Bryony holds a BSc in Psychology and Anthropology from Oxford Brookes University.

Christina joined Albion in 2024 and leads the fundraising and ongoing investor relations activities of Albion’s institutional funds. Prior to Albion, she was Investor Relations Manager at Amadeus Capital Partners. She also previously held senior investor relations roles with several leading asset private equity and hedge fund managers, including Rothschild & Co, Man Group, and Winton Group.

Christina has a first class BA degree in Law from the University of Cambridge. She is fluent in Danish, Swedish and Norwegian.

Katya joined Albion in 2020 and leads on marketing strategy, branding, and communications for the business. She also oversees our ESG work. Katya started her career in the City working across commodities, shipbroking and B2B financial sales. Before joining Albion, she co-founded and ran KidPix, a successful marketplace for boutique children’s brands.

Katya holds a BA in Economics and Management University of Oxford and an MA, Energy, Trade and Finance from Cass Business School.

Le Van joined Albion in 2022, she supports branding and communications. Prior to joining Albion, Le Van’s marketing experience was in traditional and alternatives asset management, having started her career on M&G Investment’s graduate scheme.

Le Van holds a BSc in Economics, the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and the CFA Institute’s Certificate in ESG Investing.

Stuart joined Albion in 2012 and is responsible for raising the profile of the Albion VCT offerings with Wealth Managers, Private Banks and Family offices. Prior to Albion Stuart held senior sales roles with several leading fund management houses in both the equity and fixed income markets as well as the tax efficient space.

Linda joined Albion in 2016 and heads up all regulatory matters. She initially qualified as a solicitor with Allen & Overy before joining 3i Group first to support investment transactions and fund raisings, then on regulatory matters.

She holds an LLB in Law and French Law from Birmingham University.

Nora joined Albion in 2020 focusing on all regulatory matters for the business. Before this, Nora was Advisory Compliance Manager at Sanlam Investments, where she worked since 2010 in fund operations and compliance roles.

Nora holds a Master of Science in Business Administration from Linköping University.
