Why we invested
PSE was a spin out by world leading academics (chemical engineering professors) from Imperial College London and created the world’s finest process modelling software.
PSE employed the best and brightest chemical engineering PhDs globally to build digital twins of any physical process which PSE’s core algorithms then “solved” to make processes and products better, faster, cheaper and safer.
The combination of the pioneering leadership team, led by Professor Costas Pantelides, the deep technological differentiation, and the early product market fit meant PSE had the potential to become a significant global software leader.
Development
PSE invested significantly in product development and geographical expansion to become the leading supplier of advanced process modelling software with a global blue-chip client base including over 60 of the Fortune 500.
PSE empowered major companies to innovate and solve big problems in carbon capture, chemicals, electric batteries, food, fuel cells, petrochemicals and pharma.
At exit, PSE operated 8 offices around the world (China, Germany, India, Japan, Korea, Singapore, UK (HQ), and US (NJ)) and its revenues were split equally between the US, Europe and Asia.
