Talent and Platform Director Jane Reddin made a partner
Jane’s focus has been to align growth strategy with leadership team hiring, leadership development and organisational scaling
Jane Reddin, Talent and Platform Director at Albion Capital, has become a partner of the business and a member of the Management Board.
Venture capital companies that bring value-adding expertise and support beyond financial investment are increasingly recognised as critical contributors to the next generation of founders. As part of Albion’s investment team, Jane’s role is to help the underlying VCT portfolio companies in Albion’s stable by identifying and strengthening their management teams. As a result, early stage businesses can accelerate their growth to scale into category defining businesses, which ultimately benefits VCT investors.
Jane believes great companies are built, not born, and company founders have to transform in remarkable ways as their companies grow. As the first Talent and Platform Director at Albion Capital, Jane’s focus has been to align growth strategy with leadership team hiring, leadership development and organisational scaling. This was followed by the launch of Albion’s Platform team earlier this year under Jane’s leadership, to expand support for its portfolio company founders.
Jane has always been an advocate for all company founders, irrespective of their gender, ethnicity and socio-economic class and has championed this through the #foundtolead project and continues this through her daily advisory work.
Jane Reddin, Partner at Albion Capital, says:
It’s very inspiring to recognise that, in my 25 years of working in early stage companies, we are experiencing a movement which places genuine value on human capital as a lever of growth. I believe that we now have a recognised level of appreciation in our industry that strategic organisational and talent advisory expertise is fundamental to supporting both investment decisions and scaling. Nothing demonstrates this better than having a seat at the table as a partner.
From a company’s perspective, it’s relentlessly tough for founders who have committed to a road less travelled. If I can help them to hire well and lead well, as they scale, they’ll have those skills for the rest of their working lives and this compound benefit pays forward in an exceptional way.
Steve King, CEO and co-founder at Black Swan, shares his experience:
As a founder scaling up your business, once you find product-market fit; finding the right talent is by far your most important job. I was a first time CEO and had made mistakes hiring before, so I was grateful to receive help from Jane. We spent time analysing our teams’ strengths and weaknesses and I learnt not just how to hire the right balance and experience in my team, but also how to measure, organise and manage better day to day. Since working with Jane, we’ve raised more capital, and the balance and experience of my team feels right for the next set of challenges.
Will Fraser-Allen, Managing Partner at Albion Capital, comments:
Albion Capital has been in existence for over 20 years and our longevity stems from the importance we place on putting people first, from our team to our investors and the founders we partner with. Jane’s role and expertise will continue to provide vital human capital support and a fresh perspective for our company founders in their growth journey. We look forward to working with her for years to come.
