Locum’s Nest Acquired by Aya Healthcare

Albion-backed Locum’s Nest, a leading workforce solutions provider for the UK healthcare system, has been acquired by Aya Healthcare, the largest healthcare talent software and staffing company in the US.

Founded in 2016 by former NHS doctors Dr. Nicholas Andreou and Dr. Ahmed Shahrabani, Locum’s Nest has revolutionised how NHS hospitals fill staffing gaps by creating a cloud-based platform that enables hospitals to efficiently source qualified healthcare professionals.

The platform pioneered the creation of managed, digital float pools spanning multiple NHS Trusts and regions — allowing Trusts to collaborate on staffing needs, reduce costs, and offer staff more flexible, meaningful work.

Albion first invested in Locum’s Nest in 2017, recognising its potential to bring transformative cost savings and efficiency to the NHS. The company’s technology has since become an important tool in supporting a more sustainable, compassionate model for NHS staffing.
